نگارا مردگان از جان چه دانند
کلاغان قدر تابستان چه دانند

بر بیگانگان تا چند باشی
بیا جان قدر تو ایشان چه دانند

چه دانند ملک دل را تن پرستان
گدایان طبع سلطانان چه دانند

My love, what do the dead know of life?
What do the crows know of summer’s value?

How long will you be amongst the strangers?
What do they know of appreciating you?

What do the body worshipers know of the heart’s mansion?
What do the beggars know of the Sultans’ temper?
